The SPJ’s Northern California chapter bestowed its Excellence in Journalism award for Online Depth Reporting to CNET News.com’s Digital Agenda: Homeland Security, of which I was a primary author.
While the award was given to the package and its participants, CNET News.com apparently removed me from the list of authors for the actual application. I guess that’s the hazard of leaving the company. Of the three articles, I co-wrote one with my editor and wrote another, which should make me a primary author.
The announcement is in PDF format.
The relevant text is this:
“Depth Reporting
…
• John Borland, Mike Yamamoto and Karen Said, CNET news.com, for their
groundbreaking analytical series on homeland security. (online)”
Kudos to the three mentioned. I remember that set of articles and it was a difficult package to button up.
